While on the Cary Town Council, Ya Liu was being investigated by the North Carolina Bar which resulted in a two-year suspension of her law license that was stayed for three years. The State Bar began investigating Liu after she wrote a bad check against one of her trust accounts, leading to an overdraft. The following audit found that Liu had a pattern of over-disbursing, without keeping appropriate records or performing reconciliations on the accounts. Liu responded to a letter from the State Bar acknowledging her mistakes, and giving assurances that she would amend her practices; however, just months later, the State Bar received a complaint from one of her clients regarding continued trust account mismanagement. The disciplinary panel found that Liu's "failure to properly maintain, manage, and handle entrusted funds betrays a vital trust clients and the public place in attorneys and the legal profession". Cary and Apex voters deserve better.

Ya Liu, you were elected to represent the people of North Carolina House District 21—all of them.
I believe we are Americans with personal beliefs, backgrounds, and goals. But, that we also share more in common than what divides.
A Chinese American may be conservative, liberal, or independent. Like every human being, each of us are innately unique and created by God who gave each of us a beautiful mind with which to make executive decisions. The same is true of every American.

No politician has the right to manipulate an entire racial or ethnic group.
When speaking in Chinese circles, Liu says we should elect “our own people.”
OR she’ll say she was born in Asia.
OR when she tries to maximize her pandering, she calls herself a woman of color.
I was born in America, but that does not entitle me to claim people from Canada or Mexico or anywhere else in the Americas as “my people.” That would be disgusting to expect that, but that’s all we get from Ya Liu.
I reject all PAC money. Representative Liu has accepted thousands of dollars from PACs and has also promoted her own PAC directed toward Chinese Americans. The claims used to fill their pockets regarding Senate Bill 394 are lies.
Liu has suggested that this national-security legislation would broadly prevent people from adversarial countries such as China, Iran, and North Korea from owning land. That is simply not true and involves the prevention of actual foreign owned companies from compromising our state and national security by buying up all of our farmland and the land near our military bases.
Representative Liu’s public comments have also raised serious questions about whether she exercises independent judgment. She admits on microphone casting votes on which she disagreed. This makes her a puppet and unwilling to stray from an increasingly radical wing of the Democrat Party.
That is deeply troubling. Anyone who has followed me for even a short time knows that I am no puppet for anybody.
A representative should vote according to their principles, conscience, the United States Constitution and the interests of ALL Americans, not just groups that you treat as a cashcow on your lies of division.
Representative Liu’s short legal career has already involved disciplinary action related to the mismanagement of her client trust accounts. This does not make her a bad person, but perhaps a bad lawyer.
Her public conduct of alleged reckless driving raises concerns that Representative Ya Liu wants to control you and write new laws that you have to follow, but doesn’t want to follow the laws herself.
Bryson refuses ALL PAC money; Liu has accepted thousands! And even promotes her own PAC.
Liu refuses to condemn racially charged rhetoric targeting me as an oppressor because of the color of my skin.
In my view, Liu has too few accomplishment's so she relies on identity and tribalism. That kind of politics is divisive, demeaning, and dangerous.
You are a smart, educated, and independent electorate. When you place a vote for me, I’ll support you no matter the zip code where you were born, because bringing forth new leadership means giving up on these tired and stale ideas.
